I did a project last year when I read several short ‘clean & wholesome’ books (random sampling from the top Kindle sellers in the clean & wholesome category) and this is what characterized them:

- FMCs ranging from ages 40-70+
- romance was a side plot to the FMCs gaining confidence, friends, & financial stability
- major theme of aging parents and grown children
- no explicit or implicit or implied sex
- no cursing
- no drinking or 💊 use
- zero lesbian or gay characters, even side
