Every year Black people post their kids’ prom outfits. Every year, the comments are full of weird, jealous, hateful white people.
Lmaoooo she blocked me like I wasn’t going to take a screenshot.
I am here to testify that those same people will make weird, inappropriate, and horribly racial comments under any and every post a black person makes. I made a post about my job, not allowing us to make school supply wish list… And therefore, I don’t understand why other schools need so many Index cards, yes index cards! And they came for me and called me uneducated, that I work at a privileged school, that because I’m a black woman I don’t think I have to help anybody else. It was ridiculous!
Hateful white people do it to each other too. I had to block my cousin’s wife when she got mad that I deleted her unhinged comment about my daughter’s dress for a school dance.
They know these are teens with self esteem issues and they don’t care. They struggle in their own lives and just spread their vitriol everywhere to tear others down, because building themselves up is beyond their capabilities. It is so much worse when racism is apart of their hate. Black prom is always stunning fashion!
Seriously. I am Indian and I saw two pictures, one with an Indian girl wearing an Indian dress and another girl, she maybe mixed but people can mistake her for being white wearing a lehenga and the comment sections of both were so different. White people screaming "cultural appropriation" under the post of the girl that looked white when most Indians didn't have a problem as long as she was not renaming it and treated Indians nicely irl and r*cist hateful stereotypical stuff under the girl ++
The discrimination is absolutely real and disgusting, but I als think no one should be posting their underage kids online. There are so many evil people out there that would sexualize these types of posts or use it maliciously. The milestone is beautiful, and people putting down these young women are douchebags and losers, but just be careful about online safety! Especially if a prom post blows up on threads or something, and the kid gains unwanted attention and their safety is compromised.
Once you digest that racism is deeply ingrained jealousy and envy it makes more sense . After all of these centuries I’m still lost on why give your energy to someone you perceive as less than yourself?!? They are seething because they literally “COULD NEVA” ! Could never shine so bright , look so regal , bask in the glory and gift of melanin . Lil Kim said it best “if I were you , I’d hate me too !” These young ladies & gentlemen look majestic !
I never went to my prom because 1) I was considered unattractive (brown hair and chubby with a petite blonde sister) and 2) I was told we couldn't afford it (which was a lie because my sister miraculously had a dress). Since then, I have continuously given to various organizations that provide dresses to young women to attend prom and other events. I know what it feels like to be left behind and I will be damned if I let that happen to someone else.
I was very lucky to have a husband (my 2nd one [now deceased], God bless him) that not only accepted my pain but made me feel validated.
They forget that those girls aren't dressing up to attract adults. They're dressing up for their peers. It's the adults being weird about what's a totally normal teenage thing to want your peers to find you hot. I definitely wanted my peers to be attracted to me at that age. Was not at all thinking about what the adults thought and it grossed me out when older men made comments on my body because ew, this is not for you dude.
I am loving the guys have matching jackets to the girls’ dresses. And the dresses are gorgeous. We don’t get proms as adults, it’s one time to get dressed up - go all out! There are some god awful trashy white kid prom pics. The white community doesn’t seem to understand dresses that fit correctly. Did you see the one where she looks amazing and he has on a tshirt & jeans? Like WTF.
Imagine being such a fuckface you can’t just enjoy seeing happy kids without trashing them or sexualising them. I love seeing the prom pics because although we have them in the UK now they’re after my time. I love the pride, the excitement and the rite of passage and I love all the dresses from the understated ones to the very bold ones. And the young men look so dapper too.
I will never understand how ytppl can't just keep their thoughts to themselves. They're the ones sexualizing these kids, no one else. The rest of us know that this is ART!! This is my absolute favorite time of year! Seeing what these dressmakers and tailors are doing with these clothes is just so frickin thrilling to me! You can see these kids personalities and whimsy!!
Oh god yes I've seen so many wonderful photos of couples in their prom outfits, I go to the comments expecting to see love and positivity and it's there but it's also filled with racist, ableist, misogynistic and homophobic shit, just awful. I was in shock at some of the stuff I saw, they're just kids showing what they're wearing, what the fuck is wrong with people?!
Which is fucking weird because these are children dressing up to go to a fun event! They are happy and clearly have adults who love them and are excited for them to have this experience. If they think a dress shows too much then they should 1. Stop sexualizing a kid who feels confident, and 2. Don’t buy that dress for themselves.
Prom parents, please keep posting your kids pictures! I have been living for all of these students in their prom pics! They are radiant and glow with pride. Why shouldn’t these parents be proud of their kids??? Shame on the weirdos who don’t have an ounce of joy in them and insist on stealing someone else’s sparkle.
I do not have kids, but I revel in being an internet auntie who shares in other’s joy.
I saw a post recently of a girl in a gorgeous black dress with some sheer mesh wrapping around her torso. And the comments - on her boyfriend’s page! - were HORRIBLE. And all from white women. Like, worry about your damn self. The girl looked beautiful and it’s nobody’s business but her parents. SMH
Is it a lot out at the front? Yes. Is it also tastefully done, gorgeous, and formal? Also yes. I've said it before, I'll say it again: a prom is supposed to be their first formal, afultish event, which means dresses like this should be the norm. There's nothing wrong with her dress, she looks beautiful!
I cannot speak for others but I know that I personally LOVE seeing those photos, I especially love when I get to see a before and after because it’s like watching an already beautiful painting getting decorated in glitter, this time of year is very easily my favorite time of year 😂
It’s always white people in those replies being racist and derogatory. Black teenagers can never just be kids they always have to be criminals, fast, uneducated, and ghetto. That’s why I wouldn’t post my children online because adults sending evil eyes through the internet.
It's mostly white women making the sexual comments too! The amount of them I have asked why they are making these types of comments to minors disgusts me. As a near transparent woman myself, I am ashamed.
Near transparent is hilarious 😂😂😂😂 and you are not wrong ! Either they making sexual comments or they pocket watching! Some old battle axe commented and said oh they must didn’t pay the rent that month so she could wear that dress 🤬🤬
Did I have a little sticker shock when I heard how much some of the prom dresses cost now? Definitely! It also made me feel old. 😂 But, I know better than to judge teenagers’ styles because I’m sure the adults thought I was wearing ridiculous clothes way back when.
The weird, jealous, and hateful comments are not WP’s alone. There are some black folks with equal share of hateful comments. Typically rounding them off with some weird ass financial lesson like you can’t spend money on your kids and still pay bills.
For many of these kids, prom is a chance to dress as the adults they admire. Go full glam, etc. People pushing their "purity culture" BS kisses me right off. I LOVE seeing the kids dressed up for Prom. They are usually so happy, and look and feel amazing ❤️
Black fashion is colourfull and exciting same as the culture and food. If people can not appreciate difference its best to ignore than try to educate. A closed mind can not be opened unless of an extreme pilgrimage which their highly unlikely to perform
These Bleach Demons got all this Freedom in the world and they still miserable AF and unhappy. They brag they're better than black people but if they Life is so fabulous why are they in everybody's business???? They don't make no damn sense
I, a white person, love seeing all the looks. Clearly so much planning, not just for the attendees, but also friends and family has taken place.
I only have one question. Why no socks for the loafers? I can only imagine the foot sweat.
As someone whose worked in catering all of the proms we catered were white schools and the reason they have so much to say is because they send their daughters with an off the rack bridesmaid dress and an updo looking basic as hell.
Honestly I think they are that way because of the show of cleavage and stuff. But imo I think she looks amazing and I’ll always support black ppl. The dresses they pick are always so stunning 🩷 I don’t like hateful ppl
Yt grandma here and I love the prom photos! All the young couples have such style! My first time seeing the appliqué on tuxes and it is great. I have a question-what is the situation with the young men holding up money?
It’s miserable Black folks too. Saw a comment yesterday where a BW saved a photo from a post where they decided they hated the dress and posted it as a side by side under a different pic to compare the girls dresses.
I don’t understand why people just don’t scroll on. It’s not like its that hard. Be like Thumper “if you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say anything at all”.
A white person sick of white people.
We are all the dream about, we are all they talk about, they don't get clout off of their own talents, they get it off of bringing us up. We should start getting dividends forgiving them something to talk about. 🤣
That makes me so sad. The children posted all looked so happy and excited and they'd taken so much care with their appearance. I wish people would understand that actual humans are on the other side of the screen!
I hate that it happens, but I love that regardless of that our babies still shine!💜✨🙌🏾 One thing we gone do is dress tf down! And this ain’t nothing new, remember tignon law? They been jealous.🥱
I saw one yesterday of a father daughter dance, the little girl could not have been more than 8-10 years old. Someone commented about POLE DANCING. The things people will say about children are just vile.
Personally I love the intricacies of the gowns and photo shoots. I paid for a photographer for my youngest daughter and wish I did it for all three. For what we pay to get them all together it’s worth it.
When I see those photos, I realize all those young people have more glamour in their pinky finger than I will ever have. I love all the gorgeous photos and will throw down to defend them. Come at me.
Baby girl is sitting on a MERCEDES and Dorcas thinks rent is an issue. I remain convinced it’s all jealousy, or people grew up solely in jeans and tshirts and can’t comprehend fashion.
I havent seen any yet but I cant wait Black individual's prom attire is always always top notch and I love it every single year! Im so so excited for it to finally come across my timeline!
White person here: it’s because they are so jealous. All they hear is how “broke black peoples keep them down.” Then they see that black Americans actually thrive and it kills them.
Pretty sure it’s mostly white Americans doing this and their weird as fuck racist mind sets.
Sending all the love and prom vibes from the UK 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼
I love that black girls develop an idea on their own and will work with seamstresses to make a unique vision come to life. It’s so creative and it makes prom special.
I said something about this yesterday, and the amount of weirdos that immediately jumped into my mentions makes me sick. Some people need obedience school, I swear it.
Tbh I do get very jealous. Because behind every radiant prom queen done up to the nines is a mom who ran full-tilt for her daughter's vision and thats beautiful.
Ahhh the Christian nationalists are at it again. They need to be checking under them bleachers or in the barn for Miss Brittany to see if her dress is still on.
