I'm no expert on Eastern Europe, but what I had understood from close observers of politics there not so long ago was that democracy in Hungary seemed far less salvageable than in Poland.
Yet now the democratic opposition in Hungary apparently has won an electoral victory far more sweeping than what transpired in Poland. It's shocking.
I'd love to learn exactly how and why things turned out this way.
