I’m just curious how the fire truck didn’t see the plane coming.

Even if both vehicles had clearance to proceed, the firetruck should have seen the jet was coming and stopped. Aircraft always have right of way.

WTF happened to the drivers of the firetruck? Dead? Injured? Arrested?

Decelaration after landing on a wet runway. Firetruck intrudes on runway. Pilots can’t brake and are not going fast enough to fly over. The truck driver never checked to see if there was a plane coming.

There should be a stop bar lit up before any runway. Have them in England. If that bar is red you never cross. Never no matter what any controller says. This should be standard at every airport!

Everybody has to check that traffic is clear of active runways and taxiways before crossing even if you have permission to cross. Everybody makes mistakes. The fire truck driver could have helped prevent this if he had looked and made sure the runway was clear. It looks like the controller could have made a mistake. It was late at night, rainy, the controller could have been overloaded. The tower could be shorthanded. Pray for everybody including the controller. He has to live with this. 1/2

I don't care if you're on a tarmac or a street intersection. When you approach ALL intersections you should check both ways before crossing. Whether the truck had clearance or not, defensive driving should always take precedent! So sad!

WTF was a Fire Truck doing on the tarmack? You would think the tower would warn the truck about an incoming plane!! Now two human beings are dead and their families will be shattered.

They were call for an emergency. He did told them to stop but it was to late

It’s terrible. A preventable accident. Just a guess here. The Fire truck driver was looking to the left to make his turn. It was raining. And dark. He might not have seen the jet coming. It’s all really sad.

This is very confusing don’t planes have people with wands who flag the plane down. I worked for ground handling company and every plane that came down had them you can see a plane coming down and the planes always have the right away.
