Speaking as someone who has OCD my obsessive behaviours include hoarding. I was lucky enough to be given a very caring mental health support package. They have helped me turn my spare room which was full of cardboard boxes halfway up to the ceiling,into a beautiful dining room.
So to the people who are judging this unfortunate man,remember that YOU ARE LUCKY that you don’t understand. Until you understand,please keep your opinions to yourselves.

Sometimes it is utmost intelligent people like the Auditor I know .. not by hoarding just by they think they will clean later also.. and it get worst and then they are not able to do that any more..
It's a downward spiral they cannot get out, sometimes they don't accept help and sometimes they just need someone like the one who posted the video.

The truth of the matter is we're ALL one devastating moment away from this. You could be perfectly fine for years. Great work ethics, social butterfly, a respected member of your community/church. Then a wrench gets thrown into your 'perfect' lifestyle. A divorce, an illness, a death, a job loss or just from loneliness. Depression. It happens. Which may very well require therapy, but therapy doesn't always equal crazy.🙏🏼
Good on you and he’s in a smaller apartment to be able to manage , and a family can have the larger house . People don’t choose to live like this your right it’s mental health that falls through the gaps x

You did a great thing helping this guy out, there's a lot of mental health intricacies with hoarding behaviours, and like you said, there's often trauma involved too.
My mum is a horder. Its always linked to trauma. Thank you for advocating to help this person.

My sister and her daughter have turned my home into that too , I gave up trying to get them to do something about it because I've now got a fatal lung disease 😐.
