BREAKING: 🇻🇦 Pope Leo XIV:

“Those who urge the faithful to pray for military victories and for the destruction of the adversary—this way of thinking is entirely foreign to the path of our Lord. Christianity has been distorted by a dark desire for domination. Man has fallen into the temptation of confusing power with righteousness. We consider ourselves powerful when we manage to dominate others, and victorious when we destroy. But that is not God’s victory—it is the defeat of human spirit.”

"As long as even a single child is crying beneath the rubble because of them, every ‘Amen’ they utter will be a blasphemy."

I keep hearing right wing news outlets talking about Jesus and how the nation needs to get back to faith. Yet when it comes to waging war, or closing the door to migrants in need, the teachings of Jesus are not even a factor.

"How can you close your hands to pray when they are full of blood?" -Pope Leo.

I am an atheist. This Pope may find me back in Church just because he is right!

I truly disagree with this man. None of us want violence, but the Iranian people want freedom from tyranny, and since the ayatollahs won’t relinquish their iron grip on power, their removal by brute force is justified: with them out of the way, terror financing will subside substantially. It’s a falsehood to claim that God’s not involved some times when violence is applied. God is sovereign and his prerogative involves removing evil by judgment. Leo should read his Bible more carefully.

I really love how the pope is speaking out, but as someone who has deconstructed and left Christianity - is he forgetting the anger and vengeance and jealousy of the God of the Old testament who commanded people to completely destroy other cities, man, woman and child? The God of the Old testament was an a****** and I cannot reconcile that kind of God with what Christianity is now pushing. If their God is the same yesterday, today and forever - how do we explain this?

Thank you Pope Leo. This is the hardest part in the hardest struggle for me with my religion and what’s going on in the world. I can’t understand people‘s perception of Jesus and God and I am so sick of hearing our Lord in Jesus name Blasphemed. Christianity is taking it in the shorts! All I see is God crying from above keep on preaching the right way Pope Leo and maybe just maybe hearts will turn and realize the right way.😥🙏

Jesus’s teachings were and are a paradox. They reflect the true nature of the universe. If we understand this paradox, then humility is strength and surrender is truly victory. We actually can love our neighbor, even if they are the “enemy”. It is a matter of letting go of what appears to be obvious but is, in fact erroneous. Ironically, I have found that generally, only non-believers are open to embracing this paradox. It requires a paradigm shift in thinking unavailable to evangelicals.
