FACT: The US economy lost 133,000 jobs in February.
Trump was very angry with those numbers and that report.
So this month he claims there were 178,000 new jobs ADDED in March.
NOT BUYING IT.

I remember when I used to read the Times cover to cover and occasionally submit and have writing published.
Now the only thing the NYT is good for is lining the bottoms of my rat cages and licking Trumps bungholio. Oh how far you have fallen. Pity.

If you look at the "fine print" of this specific report, there are a few reasons why that 178,000 number might feel a bit inflated:
• The "Strike" Effect: About 31,000 of those jobs weren't actually "new" hires; they were nurses returning to work after a major strike. On paper, it looks like a surge, but in reality, it's just people going back to their old desks.
• Sector Tunnel Vision: Most of the growth is heavily concentrated in Healthcare (+76,000).

Other major parts of the economy, like manufacturing and retail, are essentially flat or even shrinking.
• The "Silent" Revisions: One reason this month looked so "good" is that the government quietly admitted last month was much worse than they thought. They revised February’s numbers down to a loss of 133,000 jobs.
When you average out the last three months, the U.S. is only adding about 68,000 jobs a month, which is a much slower "plodding" pace than the headlines suggest.

A strong jobs report from a Bureau of Labor and Statistics team now firmly in the president’s pocket. That caveat is surely important.
