Everything is urgent in corporate, except recognition and salary increases. 
Correction: except pay raises for the actual employees. You can bet your ass that CEO, CIO, CFO , etc etc etc are getting their bonuses!!!!!!!
I learned this the hard way.
If my leader asks me for anything urgent I move like a fucking turtle they won’t disregilate my nervous system for 67k a year anymore…. I am not a heart surgeon!!!! Bye

If you're not careful, they will make you lose your mind for nothing serious.
chronic urgency keeps the brain locked in low-level threat mode. when that's the baseline, the reward circuits that register recognition get deprioritized. your nervous system is too busy scanning for fires to feel seen. urgency is neurologically louder than gratitude.
Funny how urgency disappears the moment it costs them something.

I lead my team with the following statement: This is PR and not ER.
No one is dying from our work so lets approach it accordingly.
PS - it's like this in the non-profit world, too, they just start you even lower in salary. The system is a joke.
Literally found that out the hard way after leaving corporate for non-profit two years ago. I’m typing this at 12:30am after I finished up a “timely” project we need to present on in the morning. 🫠

The financial translation: if your salary isn't keeping up with inflation, you're taking a pay cut every year they don't act. That urgency they never have for your raise is exactly why investing your own money can't wait for them

This is 100% a fact. If you don't know who you are, they will make you lose your mind by pressuring you to do more than you can't handle. So, be careful for those who are still working a 9-5 job.

Deadlines feel critical, but recognition and fair compensation — the things that actually keep people motivated — often lag behind.
Choosing fake corporate urgency over myself time and time again has had lasting effects.

As a former ER nurse that now works in an office setting…ain’t shit in an office setting an “emergency”…they gotta relax around me lol
I just tell people off the hop that if everything is urgent, then nothing is urgent.
“Shut up & show appreciation for this pizza party” is corporate policy.
They rush deadlines, meetings, and profits, but somehow appreciation is always pushed to next quarter. That is not urgency, that is a choice. And people eventually remember how long they were asked to give their best without ever being valued.
Corporate priorities be like 😭
Deadlines = urgent
Emails = urgent
Meetings = urgent
Your raise? “Let’s revisit next quarter.”
