Here in Gloucestershire this morning, anyone else hearing the kind of aircraft sounds you should only hear at an air show.? The whole thing is too hideous
I was still living in the Shire when the first Gulf War kicked off. A lot of noise then. On a lighter note, before children glued my arse to the ground, I used to fly gliders from Aston Down, near Stroud. Found myself sharing airspace with a B52 once. Very big fuckers.
Yep. Unsettling machines, to say the least.
Pretty much every plane is older than its crew members too.
Yes, that plays on my mind as well.
Same in North Wiltshire.
Hate it, we in the UK should have nothing to do with Trump’s illegal war.
North Swindon here and agree, there’s been quite a bit more activity than usual lately which I assume are the B-52s and B1s as they don’t show up on flightradar24.
Same in Wiltshire. Have been watching on Flightradar since this all started, so much air traffic day and night, Voyagers, Stratotankers, Tornado, A400m Atlas, C17 Globemaster. Heard the B52s.
Have seen an increase in the last couple of weeks of aircraft with transponders off.
Wiltshire too, every day. Sometimes see them. Want it to stop.
Very much so, walking in Cirencester Park earlier & several people commented on it
Yup! B1 and B52s. Taking off from Fairford at all times of the day & night. B52s chuck out filthy, stinky, black exhaust fumes. They can also spend hours ‘warming up’ their engines on the runway🥺🤢😷🥴 and if the wind is in the wrong direction the aviation fuel fumes are choking when we step out of the house. Apparently though they are within safe limits for us to breathe……🤔
B&W photo not taken recently but when the Americans have come to join in exercises, colour video taken on 15 March 2026.
The deep rumbling ones are likely B-1Bs.
I’m not far from Mildenhall, Lakenheath and Marham, and exercises are very common, particularly Mondays and Tuesdays. Happens all the time I’ve lived here. Are we getting over sensitive?
North Wilts and it sounds like dragons roaring. I hate the way it fills the whole dome of the sky with the sound of them. And when you see the damn things, the B1 bombers, and know they are off for a kill - it’s monstrous. I can’t imagine the terror of hearing them coming for you.
We’re not far from Fairford and 1 or 2 pass fairly low on their way up and onwards.
Oxfordshire reporting busy skies over Brize.
Yes, another one going over right this second. I had to turn off the tractor engine for a second because I couldn't work out what I was hearing!
Warmongering Brits. I can hear your warplanes all the way over here in The States, morning til night! Get a hobby!
It’s a good thing I know you 🥹
Certainly! Truly though, I live next to the second-largest Navy base on the East Coast. The US likes to fly their jets... Ospreys... Drones...Helicopters...
Other countries have even banned them from their airspace, let alone airfield.
B1b lancers heavy bombers taking off from Fairford.usualy X4 or 5 per day (I work not far from fairford) And they fly over my place of work
Yep i’m in Tetbury and it was very loud
Live between Cirencester and Swindon and that sounds seems to be our wake up call regularly. There literally can't be any room left at Fairford 😳
I couldn’t hear them over the noise of the tyres popping on cars due to all the potholes in Abbeymead
I should probably make light of it too but I can't
West Wilts here, I hear the B1's every day now. I particularly despise the 4.30am flypast that's become a regular feature.
Yep, they are regularly waking us at stupid o clock. I normally love the sound of the aircraft but hate the reason why this time. Warmongers
My studio is just outside Fairford, and yes, too many of them and far too noisy. Can’t help but think of the destruction they are carrying.
Don’t normally hear any in the daytime but plenty this morning over Hungerford.
Devon, constant chinooks flying overhead.
Always.. our airspace is so very busy.
Yes I did but when you family and friends called back to serve in any way it a worry
Remember these aircraft are for defence... How we are being fooled
Standard for years. With Brize just up the road as well, makes for a din when the weather clears.
Yes! Two loud roars. I heard several in Swindon on Monday, too. It must be USA bombers at RAF Fairford.
Fairford, daily occurrence for the last few weeks
I'm 12 miles from Fairford, they've been going straight over my house daily.
Me too. It's a sound of horror.
Glad it's not just me being paranoid. Hearing a lot of planes, etc here in east Wiltshire.
Fairford is busyer the Heathrow
In the eighties, A10 tank busters (Warthogs) and Fat Albert’s iver our home LOW!
On exercise to avoid the radar on Clee Hill.
Always knew something was kicking off when they started.
Nothing new sadly.
I was walking a stretch of the Thames path last Thursday. The sight and sound of bombers was hideous.
I’m 10 mins from Fairford and it unsettles me every time I hear them 😔
every time i hear one i think of the war crimes they’re likely participating in
I'm forever running to the window to see what the noise is. Double Chinook day today which was particularly body wobbling.
I know it well. Unfortunately.
Yep, lots very noisy bees here 😔 I hate it.
Can hear the rumblings in Somerset too, I hate it.
Yup. Constant RIAT sounds. Horrific.
We’re getting them down here in Devon…
Yes but I couldn’t see it which made it seem worse !!
Cheltenham - commented on it to my husband this morning 😳
Yes.... but, of course, we're not getting involved, are we? .... 🤔 😖 ✈️ 💩
