Don’t pay attention to those political fanatics in the comment sections. They’re just a small minority caught up in their own political fantasies. Focus on enjoying your time in Hong Kong, and consider visiting other Chinese cities as well.

Please let me explain in a less aggressive way why HongKongers are highly sensitive when they hear people say Hong Kong is part of China.

Two main reasons

1) Hong Kong shares different social value with China. HongKongers mainly believe in democracy, autonomy and fairness on competition. These are something that PRC and its people do not believe and even banter with.

2) HongKongers did not have rights to vote against the handover to PRC. They are reluctant on their fate….

…fate being a part of China politically. That was like from civilisation to uncivilised, from democracy to dictatorship. No one wanted regression like this
