I had some great news related to my author career this week, but I also had to decide to postpone my next two releases due to things outside the bookish world. More information coming as soon as I manage to reschedule everything. But I truly work with the best people as everyone so far have been understanding. 💛

Agents do not get paid unless they sell a book. That means they are reading queries/emails/proposals for free. Advances, in general, are low-mid-five-figures (if you're lucky). Agents must wait for publishers to issue checks (takes forever). Most publishers pay advances in thirds. If we are talking about an advance of $10K-$20K, 15% of each of those payments do not amount to much. No one is ignoring you on purpose; they are just drowning in queries.

With gas prices crossing $4 a gallon, the EPA says cheaper, more ethanol-rich fuel will ease the pain. The math doesn't really add up—but the risks sure do.
