It's great for removing blood stains, though! hydrogenperoxide #firstaid #myths #medical
The bubbles means it's working.
no the bubbles are oxygen gas forming after reacting with your cells. your cells are NOT supposed to be undergoing chemical changes, that kills them. when you feel the burning that means your cells are undergoing a chemical change. when the hydrogen peroxide kills bacteria it doesnt actually create bubbles.
Vaseline? So why not go to a gas station, and poor gasoline on your wound, that's what Vaseline is made from petroleum.
Errrrm. She’s wrong. Every 90s kid knows that the best wound treatment is peroxide then sprinkled with crushed penicillin tablets on top.
The hardcore ones use the alcohol- merthiolate combo to disinfect, then top again with crushed penicillin tablet.
Also, we have no say on this. Only the parents . As if it was our choice to skate downhill and crash on rugged concrete. Or ride on the back of bikes with “step nuts”. Every 90s kid has that distinct tire scrape scar on the inner back knees.
This was one of the most heartbreaking things to learn as an adult because for around the first 22 years of my life, I was basically pouring fire into a wound.
Could’ve saved myself a lot of pain. 🥲
That’s a great way to put it
The bubbles are fun though
You use hydrogen peroxide if there’s a bunch of crap in the wound. If you land on your knees in gravel or a cinder track for example. The reactions causes gas, which cause the fizzing bubbles, which eject small particles from the wound. Yes, it does damage, but if there’s a bunch of dirty gunk in the wound, it’s better to get that out before you let the healing process begin.
Sincerely,
-someone who learned to ride a bike on gravel
I think its working because it hurts. How can it not be true
it actually burns because (wait for it) your cells are burning. guess what, this is actually not good for your cells. it DOES clean the wound by killing bacteria, but it also kills your healthy cells and the ones that are trying to heal the wound.
not in the way you want, search up proud flesh
I always thought peroxide was specifically for puncture wounds because clostridium tetani is anaerobic.
Normal saline water is better.
But the wound heals up nicely
I don’t think a foot doctor respectfully should be posting general medical advice like this especially is false.
Hydrogen peroxide has that reaction as a result of radicals killing the bacteria so it is a good antiseptic if being used for wounds concerning for infection .

Just pour some Windex on it.
My mom always used peroxide on my injuries and it never burned. It was always the rubbing alcohol that burned. But it was a good burn iykyk
I still use it If you road rash bad, n' the skin won't scab.
Even gotta go back for seconds sometimes...
Your not supposed to use alcohol because it dries it out...
What if I like the way it burns. 🤣🤣
We used to use 151, back in the day, while working at the bar, so… yeah.
No to both options.
Clean the wound and place a dressing (plaster/band aid) over it. No vaseline as it could increase the risk of infection
the vaseline creates an additional protective layer
You can also use some modern disinfectants or lavaseptics, e.g., octenidine-based ones. They aren't as damaging to your cells trying to heal the wound. Put a dressing on and check in 2 days.
And for the love of all gods, if you're going to see a surgeon with a wound, don't use iodine, pyoctanine, or the green-dyeing thing (I forgot the name, b/c it's banned in European countries). Can't see anything in the dyed wound.
It's only good for the first time to desinfect. After that it makes healing process worse.
Isopropyl 90%. Clean asf.
Sorry dac. It was hectic.
Wats this about CNA?
The more it hurts the better it wurks.
I love this family so much.
