NASA’s Paradox of Familiarty
NASA aims to make the Moon a centerpiece of a $93 billion (before overruns) Artemis program. With SpaceX it will require launches nearly every few days. For it to work, we’re talking lots of visits to the Moon just to build the base over years and (re)supplying it. It will need to be very routine. But that will make public attention wander. Suddenly the Moon will lose the exotic drama needed to keep the public enthralled. It very much happened to Apollo and Shuttle.
