Plants want to live, too. Either we’re cool with the knowledge that every animal and some plants consumes other things to live, in which case we recognize that lines marking what is and isn’t food are either natural based on what isn’t toxic to us, or are socially constructed norms; or we’re kidding ourselves, thinking that there’s something noble about only eating plants and not animals, as though plants don’t also wish to survive, don’t also feel it when we kill them.
I think the line is clearly where the animal has other purposes outside of food like dogs are guardians and cats keep away mice and other such animals, horses can be used as transportation so I wouldn’t kill one either, also sheep give you wool so it’s smart to not to kill them off quickly and cows are similar since they give us milk but chickens get it when they stop laying eggs and so do ducks and rabbits and especially pigs
I have tried rabbits. I may have had dogs, too, but I'm not sure. (I'm Chinese... When I was a small kid in 80s and early 90s, eating dogs was still considered normal, especially in Korean Chinese neighborhoods, which happened to be where my family used to live. So my parents might have fed me dog meat when I was a small kid, I guess...)
It should be straightforward. You don’t eat carnivore or anyone with canine teeth. Even in the wild, they’re only eating herbivores. Carnivore or omnivores (with canine teeth) are in the top food chain. I meant, rabbit and horse are adorables. But in the wild, we probably would eat them too if no other options.
Switch horse and rabbit then put the line between horse and rabbit, that's where I'll draw the line. HOWEVER, if it's a delicacy in an area I visit, I WILL eat horse. Goat and lamb should in there too. I'm missing something, but whatever. I'll try (pretty much) anything as long as it's not a bug
wtf a rabbit is food! And why if there 4 dogs and 3 cats? Was the chart too small? Nobody eats baby pigs that would be a waste of money to eat them that young and horses are only pets till they break a leg then they are glue and dog food
Fun fact I recently discovered. Horses were primarily food for a long time. Hunted at first, then domesticated (about 3000 BCE) and grown for milk and meat, and only then someone tried riding them or using as a workforce.
Horses were still food in America in the 20th century
You have 4 dogs and 3 cats you only really need one of each, adding more of each doesn't make your point anymore dramatic.
Rabbits, Ducks and Chickens are a grey area, all three make great pets but taste delicious 😋
Those of you who eat horse meat are probably not from the US. Horses are beloved companion animals here, and many Americans will not touch horse meat! As a former horse owner, I could never eat it!
A step or two to the left doesn’t bother me. Horse is delicious and so are rabbit and hare. And I get the benefit of having a different specie every day of the week. A healthy balanced diet!
Well, as a non-meat eater I‘m split into two opinions, first, the rage baiter that every animal is on the right side of the line and my animal side, that everything is on the left side.
Make the horse swap with the rabbit and draw the line after the horse, rabbit tastes brilliant, never had horse before but I don’t really wanna try it, apparently it’s quite chewy
When nuclear winter hits all lines will vanish. Well see how quickly people’s convictions hold up when theres nothing left to eat. Whats normal to the Spider is chaos to the Fly
I don’t consider cats are foods based on how it may taste but not the fact that someone treat it as a pet.
I can love an animal and devour it soon after, it is what human do.
Horses have served in war with man since the beginning of time Dog is man’s best friend. We eat rabbits and who would want to eat a cat there is literally no meat on it
Ive hunted and ate Rabbit too. Dogs help humans by alerting us of large predators, cats help us by protecting us and our food from small creatures. They get a pass
I believe this isn't a binary. It's not pet OR food, exclusively. Some animals can be both. Actually, most animals we keep as pets could be eaten. Like rabbits.
Extreme poverty and situations and culture depends.
We’ve had situations where the extremely poor were catching sewer rats and stray cats and dogs to eat.
Honestly depends on how you order the animals. Rabbit stew is actually pretty good. I’d switch the rabbit and horse, then draw the line just after the horse
My mother in law makes amazing rabbit roast with onions and tomato sauce. A small diner near my previous workplace offered great barbecued horse sausages.
From this list, all of them could be pets or food depending on where on the planet you live. But in any country, the animals in food side can be pets too.
Vegans wouldn’t survive in Africa. In fact, I don’t even think they know Africa exists. It would flip their logic faster than Christ with a table.
There are a ton of African vegans in Africa. Africa has the least meat consumption of any continent. Not only white people can choose to not harm and kill animals.
Africa has the least food consumption in any populated continent, meat or not. Your rebuttal is asinine in that sense. Also, most of Africa isn’t wealthy enough or can’t afford to only eat vegetables, which makes veganism NOT a choice by default. There’s villages in Africa that don’t have shit for plants to eat. Just desert and desert animals that eat each other alike. Veganism is only a bandaid over the reality that humans eat meat, always have, and always will.
Мне кажется черта неправильно стоит,ее сразу после последнего кота надо рисовать
The French are two clicks to the left. I’ve had both horse and rabbit in France and the horse tartare was delicious. The rabbit was kind of boring.
Rabbit needs to be in the right side of the horse and the line needs to go right through the rabbit because some are pets and some are for stew …
Horses and bunnies are food.
Dogs...I've tried some, didn't think it was anything special and there's a lot of better tasting animals out there.
In general, with a few exceptions (horse being one) (and considering land animals only) I eat the herbivores, and leave the carnivores alone).
Put the rabbit in front of the horse just behind the chicken. They taste good too.
I hear horse meat is good, but I haven't tried it yet.
The real line is drawn with carnivores. "bio magnification" is the reason why we don't eat them. .. and why we should limit some fish
Yes, should avoid top fish predators because they concentrate mercury and some toxins. But a couple tuna and barracuda dinners a year aren’t going to mess you up
En México probablemente la pondríamos entre el caballo y la gallina, pero en el fondo sabemos que la línea no existe 🤣🤣🤣
Actually all vegetables and plants are carnivores. Look at how healthy and blossoms they are if you fertilize them with raw meat
Nah I’ve also eaten rabbit and horse you gotta move the line to the left a little. Horse sashimi in Japan was pretty good!
Dude never ate horse meat. It’s delicious. Also why putting a ton of cats and dogs but only one animal for each others???
Imma pull that back 2 points.
Cuz there is satay rabbit here where i am, though idk about horses, rarely being eaten here
Why aren’t these activists fighting the predators of the food chain then. That MF’s is eating anything that can move.
/ after air bud rabbit taste good.. I unknowingly ate horse jerky in Mexico it wasn’t bad probably won’t do it again
Ну я бы не был так категоричен, все выглядит достаточно аппетитно
Horses are too expensive to eat. All the rest are good. Rabbit meat is on point. Don't hate the food hate the economy.
Three different type of cats and four different type of dogs. They just couldn’t find any other animal to put there
You dont eat animals that eat Meat and help you to find/kill meat
Just that simple
So, you shoud eat the rabbit too.
Turkey needs to be on the right as well as lamb and deer as well as other creatures like elk buffalo pheasant quail
Pigeon is excellent when properly prepared. I prefer it to chicken. But duck is the best. And goose is pretty good.
Not sure what kind of sorting order this is but how convenient all the commonly eaten animals are all on the right.
Every animal on the pet side is eaten by someone. Fish are pets and food. So are insects. So will you be, one day.
Bro never heard of Rabbit stew 🤣 move the rabbit to the other side of the horse and put a slash thru the bunny
Get that rabbit on the other side of the Horse, Draw the line, and notice there's only Cats and Dogs after that .
Horse meat is consumed in over 90 countries. Rabbits: 70+ countries. Dogs: ~30 countries. Cats: 10-15 countries.
"You draw the line wherever you need it, Sergeant."
— Captain Price, 'Call of Duty: Modern Warfare' (2019).
I love the way cats said ‘fuck you dogs. You gotta eat at least 2 of you before you get anywhere near me.’
