This movie feels like a fever dream 🥶
Man lives in world where all his fears (no matter how irrational) are actually real. Brilliant genius concept.
Do not watch this movie. It’s traumatic and exhausting. However, Joaquin was absolutely amazing in it. He put his back into this role (which explains why he stank in Napoleon).

The first time my husband and I watched this movie, we were stunned in the best way. As soon as the credits started, he turned to me and said, "Do you want to watch it again?" Absolutely, I did.

I fucking hated this film, would have walked out if I wasn’t with other people who I drove to the theater. I don’t want to get into an argument about whether it is good or bad, I just absolutely hated the viewing experience, and felt no redeeming emotions after it was over, only strong discomfort. That is NOT why I watch moves.
To me it felt like someone had just finished Abnormal Psychology 101 and then sat down to write a script.
I mean that’s kinda what A24 smacks of in general imo. Sometimes it slaps but quite frequently it’s rather contrived
Don't get me wrong, it was a cool movie. Not perfect, but I didn't want my money back.
A24 takes risks, which means some of them don't work perfectly, or at all, but they've made some of the best movies this century. (Civil War, Witch, The Northman, Moonlight, Zone of Interest, Ex Machina, The Tragedy of Macbeth...)
Yeah I did not intend for that to sound so negative and you’ve articulated it better, the lack of conventional constraints leads to a high incidence of both flops/duds as well as unique insightful films from the studio

I loved this movie. I was picking apart the whole thing, trying to “call” what it was all about. Ugh just a fantastic film. Dark humor, trauma bonds, strong character arch 🧑🍳💋
His huge nutsack juuuuust out of frame getting into that bath...
I meant to see this in theatre with a friend who flaked out at the last second, so it was just me, seated solo, for three extremely surreal hours.
"What if we took the unreliable narrator concept and applied it to someone who is deeply, DEEPLY, psychologically unwell?" Amazing.
5/5 would do it again.

This film was a pure acid trip
I caught it in the theatre and when I left people looked visibly confused and rattled by what they watched lol. Such an insane movie and so glad I got to see it
