Do y'all remember writing papers and using the hell out of footnotes? I think like 6th-10th grade at least, the footnote was that girl!

I remember transitioning to in-text citations towards the end of HS, but until then, footnotes were life.

I've been teaching at the college level since 2020 and have only had maybe 1-2 students use footnotes.
