I feel like we have more idio— oh, idioms. Yes I would agree.
You hit the nail on th… never mind. 😂😊
It bothers me how impoverished our language is becoming
It breaks my brain and soul
These young people are actually dumb as a box of bricks
I think it's a pretty natural result of the English language and American culture becoming so flattened and globalized. If you live in a smaller country with a language no one else speaks, I assume it's far easier to hang onto particular cultural artifacts like idioms, but so much of the English used in movies, music, and across the internet every day is meant to be accessible to as large and diverse an audience as possible—potentially 2 billion people or more—and idioms just become a nuisance.
I’m on a mission to rid the world of “impactful“. Lazy mfers use it because they don’t know the difference between affect and effect. The same AI they are so dependent on could show them which word to use, but nah, let’s go with “impactful”. Du mbasses.
I didn’t realize how much we were until I had to break one down recently to someone younger than me.
Nah there’s plenty of idiots
The idioms have changed, that’s all. There are new idioms to learn and use.
Throw shade
Ghosting
Spill the tea
On the back burner
First world problems
Go the extra mile
Idioms that die get replaced eventually.
It's really a catch 22 that one half dozen or the other doesn't ship like it used to.
Is it because of the idiots?
You know I was going to make a joke, but I see I’ve never had a single original thought in my life.
aint that a kick in tha pants
The effort to always impact to these younger generations most times amount to building castle in the air
