a woman in her 20s was fatally stabbed today at the pokémon center in ikebukuro sunshine city, tokyo japan.

she had previously consulted police about stalking-related harassment.

the attacker, reportedly holding blades in both hands, forced his way behind the counter and carried out the attack before fatally stabbing himself.

the location sees over 30 million visitors each year.

She went to the police about the stalker, they did nothing/ not enough, and now she is deceased. A tale as old as time

Rest in peace 🙏🏼 my thoughts are with her family, friends, and coworkers

Was this murderer a native Japanese or non-Japanese foreigner?

Japan is insanely lax on stalking and SA because acknowledging it forces them to realize they have deep rooted cultural problems with how men view women and girls and self reflection is never the strength of the predator.

The Japanese will cover this up. And I’m not going to let that happen.

And again , violence against women from a Japanese guy .
No government meeting about that …….
There isn’t even a rule or law against stalking …….
( until a murder )

My stalker lived two houses away. NO ONE TOLD ME. They just “encouraged me to move.” Like I have the key money for that.

The police were SO dismissive until I told them he stole a glove from my car and tried to Cinderella me.

So…

Stalking = okay.
Trying to forcibly enter my home = okay.
Harassing my phone = okay.
Stealing ≠ okay.

Got it.

I talked to other foreigners in the area and he did this with all of them.

Minamata ladies. Be warned.

This is just awful that they placed the entire burden on you, expecting you to uproot your life and pay to move away... I can't imagine.

I'm really interested to hear more about your story, I sent you a DM on Instagram

It’s a long story for threads, but technically short.

He showed up at my apt, with my glove, and asked to get to know me.

I adore those gloves. I bought them in Scotland. The winter before I had wondered where one went and mourned it.

I felt like Cinderella with the glass slipper and completely ignored all the red flags. He was cute. He tried to speak to me in English. And he brought back something I missed.

He tried to come inside but I at least knew better than that. He asked for my

LINE to get to know me. I gave it to him because LINE protects phone numbers and maybe we could translate a convo better. We had… maybe three messages between us before things got weird.

My friends immediately warned me that it was not normal what he had done. (Can’t a girl just have a HEA?!) I realized they were right, so I decided to ignore him.

He kept coming back. Kept texting me when I was busy. Kept knocking on my door when he thought I was home and then harassing me in LINE “I saw you

go home. Why aren’t you answering?”

I asked him to stop. Asked him to stop coming to my place uninvited. He didn’t.

He showed up with a gift of some oden items(?) I think his father made? There was a lot of fried tofu and some other stuff. I threw those out.

I warned my company that he was becoming a problem. I changed my routine. And I didn’t see him for some time.

A Japanese crime. Definitely not foreigner.

Their nationality doesn't matter
回覆 @andika.msr

Normally not. But with the increase of anti-foreigner sentiment from Japanese keyboard warriors, it becomes somewhat important to point out.

Exactly, but pointing fingers and associating crime with nationality will only fan the flames of the anti-foreigner sentiment.

And women aren't taken seriously until later. That's what I was afraid that would happen to me so I left my place of work and found a better spot. But I hate how I had to do that to ensure my safety.

This is saddening and maddening on so many levels.

She did NOT deserve this at all…may she rest in peace. I pray for her and her family, friends, and coworkers. Japanese police should care about this type of stuff a little more, it makes me sad that such a beautiful country has such a horrible problem. I also pray for the children in the store that had to withess such a horrible event in a place meant to promote happiness and unity. Truly just a horrible, horrendous, heartbreaking situation. Again, My condolences to her family and loved ones.
