Occasionally I remember the time the late great Steve Wright phoned up a contest winner and introduced himself as "Stephen from London" rather than actually saying "this is Steve Wright from Radio 2". The guy who answered (I'm pretty sure he was Glaswegian) had obviously had enough of spam callers that day because he was clearly about to start having a go at him 🤣 . . .
In my early teens, I used to catch the bus on Saturday afternoons from suburban Nottingham into town to watch a matinee of Joseph and His Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the Theatre Royal.
Can’t tell you how many times I went to see it, and then - wonderful moment - I got the chance to tread the boards myself at the same theatre, after passing the audition for the Nottingham Gang Show 1986. I can still sing all the songs.
